Funny Women 10th Anniversary Charity Challenge

We are celebrating our 10th Anniversary by challenging 10 amazing high profile women from the worlds of business, media and academia to perform stand up for the first time in their lives.
On Thursday 8th March 2012, International Women’s Day, in the luxurious surroundings of the Grange Hotel, Tower Bridge, we will raise funds for 10 amazing causes with the help of 10 of the UK’s most well connected women’s networks.
We've seen nearly 2,000 new acts since we launched the Funny Women Awards in 2002 and we've encouraged hundreds of women to build a career as comedy performers.
Some extremely high profile professional women also use humour to good effect, so we want to Challenge perceptions with this anniversary event by demonstrating how women from all walks of life use humour and raise lots of money for some amazing causes at the same time.
All 10 Challengers will be fully trained and supported by the Funny Women team which includes trainers and female comedians they have worked with over the last 10 years.

After the great success of last year's show, the WOW Festival at the Southbank Centre have invited as back to once again to hold our Pan Asian Showcase in partnership with the Pan Asian Women's Association (PAWA).
Hosted by Sajeela Kershi, "Hugely talented divine diva" Time Out, who will also be one half of Asian Provocateurs along with Yasmeen Khan, the UK's only British Asian sketch duo.
Other acts Include:
Award winning musical comic Ria Lina with impeccable timing and songs to make you laugh uncontrollably.
Kish Modasia took part in last year’s Funny Women Challenge, performing comedy for the first time for charity and has been performing stand up ever since.
One of last year's Funny Women Awards Finalists Emily Lloyd-Saini, with her musings on being, in her own words, ‘a little bit brown’.
And introducing Precious Jade, the UK’s ONLY half Chinese, half East End psychic agony aunt!

We're thrilled to announce that Sara Pasco is already confirmed as headliner on the 30th. Funny Women Awards 2008 Finalist, star of Channel 4's Stand Up For The Week, and Campus, her wit and whimsy has been compared to Russell Brand, and is a definite rising star of the comedy scene. We are continuing our themed comedy workshops with a session on improvisational comedy. Our special guest instructor is Katy Schutte, one of the UK's top improvisational comedians. She performs and teaches improv comedy,with a specialization in long form. She is a Funny Women Awards finalist and winner of the Brighton Festival Fringe Best Comedy Show award.
