See You Next Tuesday Festival 8th - 20th March

Funny Women Stand Up on the 8th March marked the launch of a two week festival to celebrate International Women’s Day, See You Next Tuesday, which runs to the 20th March and plays host to a programme of cultural activities based at the New Players Theatre

Conceived by the producers of V-Day London 2008 and 2009, See You Next Tuesday is part of the global V-Day movement to end violence against women and girls in which local artists produce events and performances to raise awareness and funds.  In the last two years the festival has featured innovative re-imaginings of the controversial classic The Vagina Monologues and the new collection A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant and A Prayer, by writer, campaigner and V-Day founder Eve Ensler.   The festival showcases fantastic feminine and feminist talent for an action-packed two weeks, and aims to encourage discussion about all aspects of violence against women, including gender, sexuality, identity, equality and more in a lavish and experimental playground of fancy.

For all events at the festival other than those shows at the Leicester Square Theatre, visit www.newplayerstheatre.com or call 08444 771000 and BOOK NOW for tickets to a fantastic array of shows and events, including our special Funny Women at See You Next Tuesday programme below.

If Women were running things, how would the world be different?

Women are a powerful force in affecting change in the world; we need to learn how to get our voices heard.

The approach; conversation not combat, supporting the idea that we can affect social change.

Speakers include: government advisor on the Home Office's report into sexualisation of women and young people, Dr Linda Papadopoulus; environmental entrepreneur Kresse Wesling; Marai Larasi, director of Imkaan: Davina James-Hanman of the Greater London Domestic Violence Project; PR guru, author and broadcaster Lynne Franks; Dianne Nelmes, creator of TV’s Loose Women, semiotician Malcolm Evans & social entrepreneur Karen Darby.

Whether you are creative or in business, man or woman, you can be part of this conversation.
