Katherine Ryan, the winner of the NIVEA Funny Women Awards 2008 will be the next Funny Women to appear at the Londa Hotel in Limassol. Katherine is the latest comedian to perform in an exclusive series of events featuring top British female comedy talent at the Londa Hotel.
Her performance is scheduled for mid-November 2008 and is bound to be a great night out. Katherine is a Canadian stand up comic who's set is "an exquisitely spiteful take on bitchy, vacant, celebrity-obsessed airheads, with perfect timing, delivery and mock LA squeaky voice" (Time Out).
Jochen Niemann, General Manager of the Londa explains: “We were so impressed by the response to our first comedy evening in the autumn of 2006 that we have continued to host events featuring Funny Women artistes. Our designer boutique hotel with its lively outlets has become the place to be seen for the cognoscenti of Cyprus. So hosting a Funny Women tour is a perfect way to develop our unique offer for guests, both for locals and the tourist market.”
Other top comedy names that have appeared include 2006 Awards winner, Suzy Bennett, Karen Bayley, Sally Anne Hayward and Shazia Mirza.
To see Katherine perform in Cyprus, please contact Mr George Ellinas, tel: (+357) 25 865 555. The shows start at 8.30 pm in the Alpha Omega Ballroom. Kindly note that there are a limited number of seats. A cover charge of £5.00 will apply and all proceeds will be donated to the Cyprus Anticancer Society, www.anticancersociety.org.cy

After being at the vanguard of new female comedy in the UK for the last five years, we’re now spreading our net further into Europe to develop the next generation of female comics and generally encourage women to improve their self confidence by learning some of the tricks of the comedy trade. Even if you decide that being a comedian isn’t the life for you, finding out how to use humour in your every day life is a powerful and brave life skill to master.
The Funny Women Workshop starts with basic elements such as “What is a joke?” before exploring the mechanics of what makes a gag funny. “Go on then, tell us a joke!” deals with stagecraft and delivering humour through performance and “It’s not what you know...” explains to the wannabe comic the etiquette and insider tips of being a gigging comedian.
So whether you want to be the next big thing in comedy, to build your confidence in front of others or just enjoy a fun weekend in Spain, look out for our next set of dates.
